A slide from a presentation about the new formulation of OxyContin (ORF) by the FDA in April 2010. The slide has a title at the top that reads "The new formulation" and below it there is a table with three columns.
The first column is titled "By January 2011 CAF accounted for over 92% of OxyContin volume" and lists the following information:
- Breaking crushing or chewing the tablet is more difficult
- Injecting crushed tablets more difficult by forming a gel
- Smoothing crushed tablets are more difficult to clumping crushed tablets into large pieces
- Original 40 mg tablet
- Reformulated 40 mg tablets
- Effects expected to be greatest in reducing abuse of Oxycontin by injection and snoring
- No basis to expect direct effect on abuse via oral ingestion of whole tablets
There are also three images on the slide each showing a different type of tablet. The first image is of a white pill the second is of an orange pill and the third is of two white pills.
Overall the slide appears to be discussing the new changes in the formulation of the ORF which is a medication used to treat inflammation and pain.
