An idiographic that explains the DETER™ Multiparticulate Design process. It shows three different types of beads that are formulated using a multifaceted approach to protect the time-release mechanism under a variety of tampering scenarios. The first image on the left shows a small bead that is imparted with extended release which is made of hydrophobic waxy materials with relatively high melting point. The second image shows a larger bead that has been formed into a drug-fatty acid ionic complex which forms matrix components. The third image shows the same bead as the first one but with a different size and shape. The text on the image explains that the beads are made of hydrochloric acid which helps to reduce the amount of time released by the drug.
