The OIDA Image Collection provides a unique starting point for teaching about the opioid crisis, pharmaceutical marketing, and the use of primary source evidence in public health and policy. By surfacing visual materials—advertisements, photographs, charts, diagrams, maps, and other visual designs—directly from industry documents, the collection allows students to engage with the visual rhetoric that shaped clinical practice and public perception. These images can be used to anchor classroom discussion, support case-based learning, and foster critical analysis of how visual framing complements written claims. Because each image is linked to its source document, instructors can also guide students in moving from visual interpretation to deeper document-based inquiry.
