The diagram is divided into two parts. The top part of the brain is labeled "Trauma" and shows the ascending input and descending modulation of the spinal nerve. The descending modulation is represented by a red star with the word "PAIN" written on it. The spinal nerve is shown as a pinkish-purple color and is located in the center of the image.
There are two red stars on either side of the diagram one labeled "TRAUMA" and the other labeled "SPINTHALAMIC TACT". This indicates that the activation is caused by the presence of a spinal cord that is responsible for the pain in the brain which can be seen in the image as a red circle. The red star represents the signal that signals the pain while the green star represents a signal that is transmitted to the nerve which is represented as a green circle.
- The diagram also shows the peripheral nerves which are responsible for regulating the flow of blood and fluid in the nervous system. The peripheral nerves are shown as green circles which help to regulate the flow and regulate the movement of the nerves.
